"GAZA GENOCIDE" STUDENT EXHIBITION ATTRACTED ATTENTION
The group art exhibition, which included works prepared by students at Bartın University (BARÜ) to draw attention to the human tragedy in Gaza, attracted great attention.A group exhibition themed "Gaza Genocide" was organized in cooperation with Bartın University (BARÜ) Faculty of Education, Painting Education Department and Bartın Vocational School Design Department. Bartın Deputy Yusuf Ziya Aldatmaz, BARÜ Rector Prof. attended the opening of the exhibition. Dr. Orhan Uzun, Bartın Provincial Mufti Ömer Keskin, Directorate of Religious Affairs Directorate General of Management Services, Head of Investment Real Estate and Technical Services Department Hamit Albayrak, Directorate of Religious Affairs Social Services Department Head Zeynel Abidin Akduman, university staff and students attended.
“Israel is committing a crime against humanity before the eyes of the whole world”
Congratulating those who contributed to the preparation of the exhibition, Deputy Aldatmaz said that thousands of people, most of them babies, children and women, have lost their lives so far as a result of Israel's direct attacks on civilians.
Aldatmaz said, “Our Gazan brothers are being subjected to great oppression. Israel is committing a crime against humanity with its attacks aimed at murdering a nation before the eyes of the whole world. Countries that claim to be the cradle of democracy turn a blind eye and support this massacre. As Türkiye, we have stood against this situation with a humane, just and honorable attitude since the first day. "We will defend the rights of our Gazan brothers to the end on every platform," he said.
Rector Uzun congratulated the students for their sensitivity
Rector Uzun, who was informed by visiting the exhibition with the participants, where pain, cruelty and despair are reflected in each work, congratulated the students for their common sense approach and the works they prepared by not remaining silent about the drama.
Stating that they continue to react on every platform to the genocide committed by Israel in Palestine since October 7, Rector Uzun said, "With these attacks carried out in front of the international public, the murder of tens of thousands of people, including babies and children, has reached an intolerable point. We are all part of this struggle between being human and not being human. Today, our academics and students here, with their work, made us feel in our hearts the oppression, pain and tears shed in Gaza. "I would like to thank all our students, as well as our academic and administrative human resources, who contributed to the organization of this event," he said.
The drama in Gaza was conveyed with 60 different works
In the exhibition opened at the Kutlubey Campus Education Faculty Exhibition Hall; The difficult conditions and traumas experienced by children who witnessed the war in Gaza due to Israeli attacks were conveyed through works prepared in different techniques. In the exhibition; There were 60 works, including paintings made with charcoal, oil and acrylic painting techniques, and posters prepared using graphic design programs.
The massacre of the Palestinian people was condemned
The students, who exhibited their works in order not to remain silent about the massacre in Gaza and to raise awareness about Palestine, stood in front of their works and explained their work to the visitors. The posters condemned the oppression and genocide that Israel inflicted on the Palestinian people, contrary to international law and conscientious values, with the slogans: "You can't fight, but you can boycott", "Red day in a blue sky", "Bombing children is not self-defense", "Humanity is dead, Palestine is resisting" .
Also in the exhibition, BARÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Messages published in Turkish, Arabic and English were also included, in which Orhan Uzun condemned rectors who defended freedom of expression in the USA and were forced to resign due to the pressure they were subjected to.
